A Later alternative for when the grid stopped being the whole strategy

Visual-first scheduling is the right tool while Instagram is the plan. PostMCP AI keeps the calendar and the media handling, then treats LinkedIn, X, Threads and Bluesky as proper destinations with their own copy — and writes that copy for you.

Three reasons people move

1

Because your audience moved off the grid

Visual-first tools are excellent while Instagram is the whole plan. The moment LinkedIn, X, Threads or Bluesky start mattering, you need copy that adapts per network — and a calendar that does not treat text posts as second-class citizens.

2

Because writing seven captions by hand is the actual work

The scheduling is the easy part. PostMCP’s agent reads your brand kit and writes each network’s version — 280 characters for X, a caption for Instagram, 300 graphemes for Bluesky — then generates a matching image and dry-runs the lot before anything queues.

3

Because at some point you want to automate it

Every action in PostMCP is available over a REST API and an open-source MCP server. Publishing can become part of a script, a CI job, your own product, or a conversation with Claude or ChatGPT — not just something you do in a tab.

The media rules each network really enforces

The same clip cross-posted everywhere is rejected by whichever network has the tightest ceiling. These are surfaced before a post is queued.

Instagram

Media required. Video publishes as a Reel, up to ~15 minutes.

YouTube Shorts

Vertical video required, up to 3 minutes and 256MB. Title taken from the first line, 100 characters.

Threads

Image or video, up to 5 minutes. Publishes as the linked Instagram identity.

X (Twitter)

Image or video up to 2m20s and 512MB. 280-character ceiling on copy.

LinkedIn

Image or video up to 30 minutes and 200MB. 3,000 characters.

Bluesky

Image or video up to 60 seconds and 50MB. 300 graphemes, counted by cluster.

Duration cannot be verified without decoding the file, so these are reported to you rather than enforced — the network still has the final say. Everything on this page describes PostMCP AI; check other products’ current docs before deciding.

Switching questions

What is a good Later alternative that also handles LinkedIn and X?+

PostMCP AI schedules to seven networks from one calendar — Instagram, YouTube Shorts, Threads, Facebook, LinkedIn, X and Bluesky — and lets each carry its own copy and media. Visual networks are handled with their real constraints, and text-first networks get first-class treatment rather than a resized caption.

Can it schedule Instagram Reels?+

Yes. Instagram requires media on every post, and video publishes as a Reel. Attach a public video URL and the engine handles the upload. Pre-flight flags an Instagram target with no media before the post is ever queued.

Does it support YouTube Shorts?+

Yes, with the rules Shorts actually enforces: a vertical video, up to 3 minutes and 256MB, and a title taken from the first line of your copy and truncated at 100 characters. That last detail is why the first line of a Shorts post matters more than the rest.

Is there a visual content calendar?+

Yes — month, week and day views with drag-to-reschedule, filters by platform, profile or status, and per-delivery state on every card including the live permalink once a post lands.

What about link-in-bio pages and media libraries?+

PostMCP does not offer a link-in-bio page or a hosted media library. It is a publishing engine: you supply media as a public URL, or generate an image with the AI and get a hosted URL back to attach.

How much does it cost to start?+

Free Forever covers 5 connected profiles, 20 publishing credits and 100k AI tokens a month with the full calendar. Paid plans start at $20/month, or $16/month billed annually, for 10 profiles and 2,000 credits.
